Alex Ferguson has said he will not reclaim his role as manager of Manchester United, despite David Moyes’ poor start to the season.
United fans are up in arms regarding some of former Everton manager Moyes’ managerial decisions, following a poor transfer window for the club that saw the £27.5million acquisition of Fellaini become their star signing.
However, Ferguson has insisted that Moyes is the right man for the job despite a few notable teething problems, including an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, saying: “United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine. He’s a good manager.”
He continued: “I’m not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United’s results.
“You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager.
“I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I’ve got a new life.
“I want to go the Kentucky Derby and the US Masters, the Melbourne Cup. I want to visit vineyards in Tuscany and France.”
Ferguson also revealed that there was truth to the rumour that Chelsea had approached him to discuss him potentially moving to Stamford Bridge, a proposition which he swiftly declined. “They used an agent to approach me when Abramovich first took over the club,” Ferguson said, “and I said no chance.”
