In Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag we’ll be looting, shooting and pillaging as pirate protagonist Edward Kenway, and we can’t wait. So as we prepare ourselves for its impending release, we thought we’d run down the reasons why we can’t wait to fill the scuffed shoes of a swashbuckling pirate in the Caribbean.

5 Reasons Why We Can't Wait to Be Pirates in Assassin's Creed IV
Hijacking ships like a badass
Sure, Grand Theft Auto V lets you drag people from out of their sports cars before driving off into the Los Santos sunset, but Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will let you board enemy ships and throw their Captain overboard with help from your merry crew of swashbucklers. You can then steal the cargo, using it to upgrade your own ship into a Black Pearl-esque force to be reckoned with.
Battling the beasts of the sea
The ocean's a scary place, and by the looks of things its formidability is going to be recreated successfully in Assassin's Creed IV , as it pits us face-to-terrifying-face with the beasties of the Big Blue. I'm unsure of just how much time real-life pirates spent going toe-to-fin with huge whales and the like, but judging from the screenshots we've seen, the pirates of ACIV don't mind getting their hands dirty. Or wet.
Being a bit of a bastard
Jack Sparrow might've seemed like a decent enough bloke underneath all that eyeliner, but in truth pirates were by-and-large quite heartless. From what we know of Assassin's Creed IV protagonist Edward Kenway, he's a man driven by power and carving his legacy into the history books, which will hopefully mean we get to firmly embrace the life of a pirate in the game. By that I mean we get to be a bit evil.
Sailing the tropical seas
We hope Assassin's Creed IV features our favourite pirate singalong anthems, so that as we're sailing through the seas we can burst into "A Pirate's Life For Me" before drunkenly cracking a rum bottle over the head of one of our shipmates. Early footage has shown as that ACIV's tropical setting is looking gorgeous, and what better location to counteract the bad deeds of a pirate than the picturesque Caribbean?
Stabbing our friends, who also happen to be pirates
Assassin's Creed IV 's multiplayer will pit us against our friends in a swashbuckling fight to the death, with plenty of spilt blood (and rum) along the way. Pirates were notoriously ruthless, and what could be more ruthless than running up behind your buddy and impaling him with your cutlass?
