At first it was mid-September, and then it was early October. While Square Enix’s estimate for what Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn would open server transfers was off, the arrival date is now confirmed.
Square Enix has set the debut date for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn‘s server transfer system to October 15th. One free transfer per character will be available until October 20th. Players can also choose to do bulk transfers of up to 8 character to a single server.
While you can transfer to any server of your choice, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida has urged players to consider lower population realms. Many of the game’s most popular servers became full within hours of the game entering Early Access, prompting Square Enix to shut down character creation on these realms (Gilgamesh, Leviathan, etc.). This has been critical to maintaining stability on servers, but has split friends apart.
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn will receive its first major content update, v2.1, sometime in November. It’ll include PvP, new dungeons, player housing, among many other additions to the popular and well-received game.
