If you’re planning on getting a next-gen console at launch, chances are you’ve spent some time deciding which FPS you’ll be playing this holiday season. You should get it if: You love teamwork and/or vehicles. You enjoy marching through the battlefield with your friends in tanks and helicopters.
It also offers: A refined engine (Frostbite 3) with outstanding physics and environmental destruction. You'll see the world marked by firefights unlike any other game in history.

Call of Duty: Ghosts
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One
Modes: Single-player, online multiplayer, offline multiplayer
You should get it if: You want to play the game everyone's playing. Call of Duty routinely outsells other shooters making it much more likely that you know someone who plays CoD than its competition.
It also offers: A ton of different game modes and customization options. Call of Duty has had a release every year since 2005, and each year it has found ways to layer in more content. This year has an adrenaline pumping game mode called Cranked, and will be the first in the franchise to let you fully customize your character.

Killzone: Shadow Fall
Platforms: PS4
Modes: Single-player, online multiplayer
You should get it if: You want to see what next-gen has to offer. Killzone: Shadow Fall is the best-looking game on either the PS4 or Xbox One for 2013.
It also offers: A continuation of the Killzone franchise story. Unlike the competition, this game's singleplayer campaign continues a story that some gamers have grown to love.
