With all this talk of the PS4 and Xbox One’s spectacular launches, consumers have all but forgotten about the Wii U. However, with Super Mario 3D World being released to overwhelming critical acclaim, Nintendo is keen to remind potential buyers of the selection of great first-party titles the underrated console has in its library, branding it “the best choice this Holiday season” in its latest marketing campaign.
Along with Super Mario 3D World, the Wii U now boasts the likes of Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Wii Fit U, three crowd-pleasers that will hopefully boost the minimal revenue generated by the console heading into the new year. With Super Smash Bros. U and Mario Kart 8 also headed to the system in 2014, Nintendo certainly has a fair few tricks left up its sleeve when it comes to steering the Wii U back in the right direction.
Personally, I own a Wii U and love it, though in the past year it has been thoroughly unsupported by software. I’m pleased that this is starting to change, and hopefully this will spell a positive change in its fortunes.
