The Rolling Stones Are Touring And They Want Your Money

Keen to catch a glimpse of The Rolling Stones when they hit Australia next year? Hopefully you’ve been saving…

The Rolling Stones are returning to Australia for the first time since 2006, this time as part of the ’14 On Fire Australian Tour. But if you’re hoping to catch the veteran rockers (for possibly the last time), expect to pay top dollar.

The band made a cool $550 million during the ’06 A Bigger Bang World Tour and are seemingly looking to top that by charging Aussie fans as much as $580 for a ticket this time round.

The Stones announced their Australian tour earlier in the week, visiting Perth, Adelaide (already sold out), Melbourne, Hanging Rock and Brisbane in March and April next year. ‘Tongue Pit’ tickets- standing area giving fans a 360-degree view beside the stage- are priced at $580 a spot with the cheapest Category 3 seating still costing slightly below $200 a ticket.

Somewhat more affordable is the ‘Lucky Dip’ option, “ensuring that some of even the best tickets can be snapped up for a bargain by genuine fans”.

Questions have been asked of the band’s ticket pricing before. Last year’s 50th anniversary tour charged fans between  £95 and £950 (VIP) for tickets, average price around £350, with guitarist Ronnie Wood telling The Telegraph, “We feel no bad thing about ticket prices. We’ve got to make something”.

Tickets are available from Monday, December 16 (pre-sale from the 9th via Frontier Touring).
