Bad news, Star Wars fans – it looks like Disney has canned Star Wars 1313.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has revealed that Disney failed to renew the trademark for the much-anticipated game on December 23rd, 2013. This means that unless that trademark is renewed in the future, which seems highly unlikely, Star Wars 1313 is dead and buried.
This is a real shame, especially considering that we were told following Disney’s acquisition of LucasArts that development on the game would continue. While we’re glad that a Battlefront 3 is being made, we were really looking forward to a new IP set in the Star Wars Universe, and 1313 looked like it was shaping up nicely.
Hopefully the rumoured open-world Star Wars game is real, and will fill the gap now left in our hearts by this sad piece of news. Let us take one last look at what could have been…
