There’s a good reason Star Citizen just surpassed $38 million in crowdfunding. Gamers have been awaiting a proper space simulator for what feels like millennia now. Star Citizen‘s promise to deliver on that untapped potential has intrigued plenty of fans, enough that it’s currently the most anticipated PC exclusive in development.
Cloud Imperium Games has decided to reward its sizeable—and patient—fanbase with a fleet of new screenshots and concept art for Star Citizen. The game might be on its way to becoming one of the largest virtual worlds in existence—EVE Online is likely the only competitor—, but that doesn’t mean its fidelity has to suffer. These images show a universe rich with realistic-looking ships, detailed cockpits, and all the hazards you would expect from a colonized outer space. Bear in mind, this game will support Oculus Rift at launch, so you could be flying around these territories in full virtual reality.
