Atari has posted on Facebook what appears to be a pre-announcement tease for Rollercoaster Tycoon 4. It reads:
A wild thrill ride awaits! #RCT4M
To make things more obvious, it attached the following .gif:
As a huge fan of the franchise, I’m both excited and apprehensive. Rollercoaster Tycoon was one of my first true gaming loves. I must have spent hundreds of hours constructing rollercoasters and developing the sort of parks that I would like to visit in real life.
Unfortunately, the ‘M’ at the end of the message likely stands for mobile. Given the disaster of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the franchise dip into the lucrative mobile market. However, the ramifications would surely compromise the level of detail and customization that PC iterations are capable of.
We won’t know for sure until the game is officially announced, but let’s hope this beloved franchise is taken care of if it’s resurrected.
