The Elder Scrolls Online is Already Running on Oculus Rift

If you’re a gamer you’ve likely immersed yourself in an RPG. It’s one heck of a way to take a break from the real world. Can you imagine it with virtual reality? Well, you don’t have to imagine, because it’s here with Oculus Rift.

A user on the Oculus VR forums has already posted a way to get The Elder Scrolls Online running with Oculus Rift. The results are absolutely incredible. Given TESO‘s thoughtful implementation of a first-person view it’s just about the best merging of MMO and virtual reality that the world has ever seen.

The integration is achieved using TriDef 3D, so it isn’t a native application. However, it’s fully functional. The only negative noted is that the current Oculus Dev Kit is 720p, which makes reading text suboptimal. You may want to wait for the Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 before splurging.

Instructions for getting TESO to work on Oculus can be read here.
