Rhythm games fell off the deep end only a couple years ago after enjoying almost an entire generation of stardom. Although many blame their disappearance on their inability to evolve into something greater than their original vision, their overabundance of releases sure didn’t help any. You couldn’t go a year without seeing a new release. Really, it was played out.
Time has passed and it’s been a while since we’ve seen either Rock Band or Dance Central—in relative terms, anyway. With new consoles on the market, is it almost time for a resurgence? Harmonix thinks so.

The Rock Band and Dance Central franchises are near and dear to our hearts and our minds. And we have grand plans to bring back both of them with guns blazing at some point in the coming console cycle.
The diverse social sharing features of the Xbox One and PS4 could work wonders for what many would consider an experience that lends itself to social interaction.
Harmonix’ next title to release is Fantasia: Music Evolved, followed by Chroma. Both are rhythm games but less conventional than the numerous Rock Band and Guitar Hero games that populate the studio’s lengthy release history.
