Despite the departure of Kim Deal, legendary rockers The Pixies are returning on April 28 with Indie City, their first full-length album in more than two decades. Fans can listen to the 12-track offering a full week ahead of time via The Guardian.
The album stitches together the trio of EPs the band has released in the past year, with three additional new songs tacked on for the voracious Pixies fans. Limited early release copies of Indie City were made available on Record Store Day this past weekend for lucky hunters, with the full release arriving next Monday.
Purists concerned that Deal’s absence will mean Indie City doesn’t qualify as a “real Pixies album” can rest assured that the devil is in the technicality detail: Kim was reportedly present early on in the sessions, but left soon after, being replaced by a few different performers. Entrance Band bassist and former A Perfect Circle low-end Paz Lenchantin has taken over four-string duties during live performances, including the band’s Coachella set.
Indie Cindy is out April 28 on Pixiesmusic, and is available in a wide range of packages.
