Rumor: Halo HD Collection Including Halo 1 through 4 to Hit Xbox One Later this Year

Today is a good day for Halo fans. Not only was the Xbox One’s Halo 5: Guardians detailed, as well as the upcoming TV series, but an upcoming HD Collection can be added to the list as well.

According to several sources at Engadget, a new product called Halo: The Master Chief Collection is slated for a late 2014 launch exclusively on Xbox One. It’ll supposedly include Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 all remastered with improved visuals to take advantage of Microsoft’s latest hardware.

A Halo 2 HD remake has been rumored for several months now given its 10 year anniversary is this year. However, little has been said about there being more than one game in the package.

Halo: Combat Evolved was remastered in HD for Xbox 360, and while it was largely a success, it had some quirks that Halo fans didn’t like. Has Microsoft listened?

Meanwhile, Halo 4 was on Xbox 360, and has been regarded as one of the best-looking games on the system. If this rumor is true, it’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft can do to improve it on Xbox One.

It is unlikely that we’ll hear more before E3 as this seems to be a leaked Microsoft E3 Press Conference announcement. We’ll find out soon if it holds any weight.
