If this isn’t the funniest story that’s come out of the football world in a while then we don’t know what is. According to his agent Manchester City’s Yaya Toure is extremely close to making a transfer request, after his club forgot to wish him a happy birthday.
Toure’s agent Dimitry Seluk has said that the Ivory Coast midfielder feels unappreciated by the club, and that this was made apparent when no one wished him a happy 31st birthday when he and his teammates partied in Abu Dhabi to celebrate Man City winning the Premier League title.
Speaking to The Sun, Seluk said: “There’s a big possibility Yaya will leave this summer. What happened at his birthday meant the club don’t care about him. It was proof.
“In a normal team, his team-mates and club would at least give him good wishes. He’s very upset and he started thinking of leaving the club. And he will leave if things carry on like this.
Seluk continued: “It’s not a question of money or contract, believe me. He has everything he needs. For Yaya what is the most important thing is human relationships.
“When your best worker has his birthday from time to time it’s not bad to shake his hand. To make him feel valued and appreciated. They don’t give any attention to Yaya.”
After hearing this news it’s likely that many clubs will be lining up to wish Toure a belated happy birthday, with Conference North side Colwyn Bay F.C. already beating the majority to the punch…
