Watch Dogs is Ubisoft’s Best-Selling Day One Game in 28 Year History

So that Watch Dogs games… it’s pretty good, right? Although it’s hit a few road bumps with the “downgradeadation” talk online, gamers spoke with their wallets: Watch Dogs is hot stuff.

Ubisoft has revealed via its blog that Watch Dogs has sold more copies during its first 24 hours on the market than any Ubisoft game in history. Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rayman, Tom Clancy, Just Dance. You name it, Watch Dogs has bested it.

CEO Yves Guillemot shared the following:

Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off. It’s great to see so many players enjoying the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.

It has been stated on several occasions that Ubisoft plans to make Watch Dogs into a franchise it can alternate releases with Assassin’s Creed, but first it needed to show that it can perform. While no numbers have been released, it’s not out of the question for it to at least hit the four million sales mark, which is absolutely outstanding for any new IP. A Watch Dogs 2 is certainly in the cards.
