Former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way has announced that he’ll be performing a low-key show in Portsmouth, before his scheduled set at Reading and Leeds Festival.
The singer made the announcement on Twitter, writing: “Wednesday. Portsmouth. Wedgewood Rooms. Me, and 400 of you. Fuzz pedals, hormones, and extraterrestrials.”

Reading and Leeds Festival will take place across over the course of this weekend (August 22nd – 24th) and it marks the first time the singer will perform as a solo artist. The warm-up gig, which will take place at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms on August 20th, will be a far cry to the thousands in attendance at the UK festival, though will give Way the chance to stretch his vocal chords before he embarks upon the unenviable task of performing without the aid of his band for the very first time.
Tickets are limited to 4 per person, with tickets costing £17.05. They’re set to go on sale on Tuesday, 19th August at 9am, and can be purchased right here. The event is for over 14s only.
