A Star Wars expansion is likely coming to Disney Infinity 2.0, after the game’s creators dropped a big hint that the cross-franchise series would be heading a to a galaxy far, far away.
Speaking in an interview with Newsarama, Disney Interactive’s John Vignocchi and John Blackburn were asked of what was in store for the series, to which Blackburn replied: “We can talk about the future, but that’s far, far away.”

Further provoking the rumor mill, Vignocchi replied: “2015 is not so far, far away anymore, is it?”
Disney Interactive is currently working on the follow-up to Disney Infinity, which was announced back in April. During the announcement, Disney’s Rapunzel was seen brandishing a lightsaber, so it has already been suggested that the Star Wars franchise will be making its way into the series in some capacity. Seeing as how Disney now own the rights to the Star Wars video game license after buying it from the now-defunct Lucas Arts, it seems like a no-brainer that we’d see Luke, Han and Leia make their way to Disney Infinity 2.0, considering the popularity of the kid-friendly LEGO Star Wars series and the Star Wars toy line.
Disney Infinity 2.0 will launch with a Marvel Super Heroes starter pack, with The Avengers being the focal point of the new game. As Star Wars: Episode VII will release in cinemas next year, Disney may be looking to capitalize on the movie’s inevitable success and will perhaps create an expansion pack filled with new characters from the movie.
Disney Infinity 2.0 is set to release on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U on September 23rd.
