As part of Nintendo’s onslaught of headline worthy news today is the official announcement for Bayonetta 2‘s release date. The date to mark your calendar with is October 24th, meaning Bayonetta 2 arrives on the same day as Civilization: Beyond Earth, Fantasy Life, and Pokemon Art Academy.
The announcement was made with the following statement to press:
The witch is back on Oct. 24. The game features over-the-top battles with wild weapons that take place in gorgeous set pieces. A new snake transformation lets Bayonetta better navigate underwater. The original Bayonetta game, complete with some Nintendo cosplay options for the powerful heroine, comes bundled with the retail packaged version of Bayonetta 2
Bayonetta 2 was born from Nintendo’s investment, and has been considered the most anticipated game for mature audience since the console’s release. It is a direct sequel to the original Bayonetta, a game that is hailed as one of the best of the hack and slash genre.

Bayonetta 2 will include a copy of Bayonetta for Wii U, which boasts several improvements over the original game including new costumes and abilities.
Depending on how well Bayonetta 2 performs, Platinum Games may choose to develop a third installment for the franchise. Game director Yusuke Hashimoto has voiced his interest in continuing the partnership with Nintendo, so that game would probably be exclusive as well.
