Falcao’s father Radamel Garcia has stated that many clubs were in competition with Man U manager Louis van Gaal to secure the signing of the Colombian international, saying to LA FM: “Juventus, Manchester City and Liverpool all wanted him as well, and even Arsenal made a late approach. Fortunately, he has now joined Manchester United. They are a great team.”
Err… we don’t think Mr. Garcia has seen United play recently…
Falcao has joined Manchester United on loan from Monaco, and Van Gaal will be hoping that alongside his fellow new signing Angel Di Maria, the 28-year-old will bring some success to the flagging Premier League club.
Van Persie has insisted that he is not intimidated by Falcao’s move to the club, stating that he looks forward to the competition. Speaking to Fox Sports, the Dutchman said: “It is up to Falcao to fight for his place, as I have to as well. The two of us, plus Wayne Rooney and James Wilson, we must all fight it out to see who plays.”
