Later this year one of the most substantial collections in gaming history will be released in the form of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It’ll include four games, each remastered in either moderate or significant ways. As great of a collection as it is, it isn’t complete; there are a few Halo games, which some would argue are the best in the franchise, that aren’t included. However, there may be a plan for those titles.
Speaking to VideoGamer, 343 Industries executive producer Dan Ayoub shared the studio’s interest in eventually crafting remasters for Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. He said:
What I can tell you is probably the biggest question we get from people is, what about ODST and Reach. What I can say is it’s certainly not in our development timeline or planning right now [but] we’ve heard that question so much that it has seeped into our collective subconscious. I think enough people have asked about it that we are thinking about it.
Going back and playing through the Halo games during Summer for my first time, Reach was my favorite of the bunch. It was the first Halo to incorporate the modern control scheme, and had what I felt was an interesting, easy to follow story. So while many would argue that Halo 2 and Halo 3 are the games that deserve remaster treatment the most, I think Reach is a great candidate for a future release.

However, Reach is only four years old, while ODST is a year older. It hasn’t been long since we’ve seen these games, and the core focus of Halo: MCC is Halo 2‘s thorough remaster to commemorate its 10 year anniversary. Then again, the even more recent Halo 4 is included in the package, so maybe we’ll see these two well-received games on Xbox One sooner than it may seem.
