The message is so simple, and doesn’t require a vessel of passionate fury to remind us: The idea that security and economic growth require remorseless, unchecked power is asinine, and this generation may be the first with the information and communication means available to make that distinction widespread and stop this flawed model from continuing.
People absolutely have the power, especially when we remember that beneath the badges & helmets, behind the suits and uniforms those oppressors and empires consist not of gods or transcendent beings but people. Just people. In this clusterfuck of chaos and agony on a tiny blue dot flying through the infinite nothingness, we’d do well to remember that our strengths and voices are just as relevant as those who would have us believe that they know better, deserve more and should hold authority and judgement over our – or any – society.
