Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare might be a well-received entry in the franchise, but thousands of users have been voicing their frustration about lag issues in multiplayer since the game’s debut. These issues have resulted in a ton of discussions around the internet, muffling a lot of the positivity about the game.
Upon receiving several Tweets regarding lag in CoD: Advanced Warfare‘s multiplayer component, Sledgehammer Games Studio Head Glen Schofield posted the following comment:
the majority have no issues.
He did precede that by saying that Activision has heard the complaints loud and clear, and is working to resolve everything. Even if the majority aren’t having issues, that can still mean that millions are.
The frustration has piled up during the past week, resulting in some anger. Take for example one gentleman who sent the following Tweet to Sledgerhammer Games Co-Founder Michael Condrey:
Yo dumbass FIX THE AW SERVERS BEFORE I BREAK MY NECK.
Michael Condrey’s reply was the following:
not much of an incentive for me here, really
Although the issue has been downplayed, forums and social media have been slammed with users sharing their personal experiences. For a game that is looking to become the new FPS standard in MLG and other eSport leagues, it doesn’t appear to be trying very hard.
Some speculation as to why the lag is occurring has found its way into discussions. Apparently it results from matchmaking prioritizing “skill level” rather than ping. So, peer-to-peer lobbies have been filled with players from around the country who in many cases don’t have good connections to one another. You can read more about that here.

The reality is that nothing will change heading into the future unless income is at risk. At this rate, given how prevalent discussions about CoD: Advanced Warfare lag are around the internet, something might actually be done.
