The upcoming multiplayer beta of Halo 5: Guardians will run at 720p, 60fps.
Developer 343 Industries has confirmed the resolution and framerate of the beta, which will run from December 19th to January 18th, in an interview with Eurogamer, with studio head Josh Holmes saying: “So, for the beta, we’re going to be coming out at 720p and 60fps. That’s not the final resolution for the game. You can imagine as we go through the remainder of the project we’ll be focused on polishing the visual look of the game. You can expect it will look amazing when it comes out.”
This means that 343 is likely pushing for the sweet 1080p spot with the game, though considering the Xbox One’s troubles with outputting games at their optimum resolutions, it’s unclear whether or not they will succeed in doing so.
Recently Halo fans were outraged when leaked footage of the game’s multiplayer surfaced online, seemingly showing it implementing a sprint feature and aim-down sights, two mechanics now frequently implemented in first-person shooters but are deemed big no-nos for the Halo franchise.
