Microsoft’s history with PC gaming has hardly been successful. After abandoning Games for Windows, an awful service that had a nasty habit of actively turning consumers away from games that brandished the Microsoft logo atop their box, they’re now looking to improve their reputation in the computer games space with Windows 10.

The head of Microsoft’s Xbox division Phil Spencer was fielded a question by a follower regarding whether or not footage would be shown of Windows 10’s Xbox One user interface at the company’s upcoming January 2015 event. In response, Spencer wrote: “I’ll be focusing more on what we are doing on Win10 in January, it’s time for us to talk about gaming on Windows.”
Many had expected Spencer would be at the event to highlight how Windows 10 was going to be integrated into the Xbox One ecosystem, as Microsoft is looking to implement its new operating system with all of its products. However, it seems that Spencer will not be discussing the Xbox One at the event, but rather focusing upon a brand new PC gaming venture for the company.
Given Microsoft’s history in this field, there will no doubt be a heap of skepticism from consumers. However, with the company being adamant that the new OS will mark an era of change for the company following the underwhelming reception received by Windows 8, perhaps they’ve got something great up their sleeve this time around.
