Most Craved: Spider-Man Joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Livin’ on the edge, fighting crime, spinnin’ webs. Swinging from a ledge, he can leap over our heads! And he’s going to be doing it at a new studio. This week the biggest news story in the entertainment industry is Spider-Man’s long-awaited return to Marvel Studios, and their plans to reboot the superhero for the second time in just a few short years. And we’re asking all the big questions on the weekly web series Most Craved, starring William Bibbiani (CraveOnline), Jenna Busch (Legion of Leia) and Silas Lesnick (Coming Soon).

Sony Pictures has teamed up with Marvel Studios to give the production company behind Iron Man and The Avengers the opportunity to restart the Spider-Man franchise, beginning with a cameo appearance in an upcoming Marvel movie and leading up to his own feature film, to be released on July 28, 2017.

But which Marvel movie? Everyone thinks Spider-Man will first appear in Captain America: Civil War, but with the Civil War storyline having nothing to do with Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, would it just be at the end of the credits as a teaser for the future film?

And what about that film? Does Marvel need to retell Spider-Man’s origin all over again? Do they have any options to tell the origin and still introduce the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a fully formed hero?

Who should play Spider-Man? Will it be one of the hot young actors of today, or are there underdog actors who deserve greater consideration? And will Marvel even be casting the role of Peter Parker, or has the time finally come to introduce Miles Morales to audiences all over the world?
