The Order: 1886 Might Be Short, But One Analyst Believes It’ll Sell Millions Anyway

The Order: 1886 is the PS4’s first big AAA exclusive of 2015. It goes without saying that its release holds a lot of weight. While the last week has been challenging for the game’s reputation, there’s at least one person who firmly believes it’ll sell like hotcakes.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Wedbush Securities Analyst Michael Pachter shared that he predicts The Order: 1886 will sell well… very well, in-fact. He said:

It’s a really good exclusive title and I think it attaches at a pretty high rate to the install base so probably 3.5 to 4 million of the install base, and then I think it will probably attract another 1 to 2 million to buy a PlayStation 4 in the next few months. So I would imagine it would be 5 million through the year’s end and it’s great.

The Order: 1886 was an expensive game to make. Not only does it belong to a new IP, but it used the most up-to-date motion capture and graphic design technologies during its five year development cycle. Even then, five million units sold should be more than sufficient for the game to be profitable.

However, the game does have a hurdle to jump over in its week leading up to launch. A full walkthrough leaked onto YouTube last weekend that showed that The Order: 1886 can be completed in a mere five hours without skipping cutscenes. Given that it doesn’t have any form of multiplayer, and little in the way of replay value, some gamers’ excitement to buy the game has been challenged.
