Legendary former England international and Newcastle striker Paul Gascoigne appeared on the BT Sport show Fletch and Sav over the weekend, reeling off a few hilarious anecdotes from his footballing days along with discussing the troubles he has had with staying alcohol-free whilst being hounded by the media.

Gazza sat on the couch alongside Ian Wright, Rio Ferdinand and Russell Brand, dispelling a number of myths circulated by the media in regards to his battle with alcoholism, including a recent rumour that he had travelled to Spain in order to undergo rehabilitation.
Gazza fought back the tears when discussing highlights from his career.
Comedian Brand was also on-hand to offer a motivational speech, reminding Gazza of the “beauty” that he brought to the sport and how, even though his body may not be able to play anymore, he should still never forget the contributions he made to football and to his fans.
The interview promptly generated a wave of support for Gazza on social media, with viewers noting that it’s the best they’ve seen the ex-footballer look in years. Appearing occasionally teary-eyed when reminiscing about his days playing for Newcastle, Tottenham, Rangers and more, the interview was a sign that Gascoigne may have finally beaten the demons that have stood to take over his life since his retirement from the sport.
