Although the focus of the Oscars is rightfully on the cinematic excellence of filmmaking (and, inconceivably in 2015, what everyone wore), the 87th Academy Awards hosted an impressive run of music both classic and popular. While the majority of the performances were a bit too homogenized and bland for any noteworthy remembrances, a few surprises kept the night interesting.
