Game of Month: Bloodborne
The past couple months have been dry in terms of video game releases, but March is finally here. It brings with it several great games, a couple of which could be considered the best that the year has to offer.
March has long been considered one of the best months to release video games, and it shows in its year-by-year release calendars. This year, several major publishers have something special in-store. But just what are they?
We’ve listed 10 of the hottest releases for the month of March 2015. You can read about them in the gallery below.
March 2015 Video Game Release Calendar
March 3rd - Screamride
Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox 360
Roller coaster video games are a rare breed. Screamride aspires to be a wacky and fun new take on the genre with an emphasis on experimentation. You'll build coasters and send riders flying off the track and into buildings. Or, you can ride them yourself and put your own life at risk. With three different styles of play all deviating from park management, there's nothing quite like it.
March 10th - Cities: Skylines
Platform: PC
Were you burned out by the release of the latest SimCity ? If so, Cities: Skylines might be for you. It looks to be what SimCity should have been with options for erecting huge, thriving metropolises. Modding will also be supported, allowing players to create and share their own additions and tweaks to the game.
March 10th - DmC: Devil May Cry
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4
2013's Devil May Cry release was pretty good, and now it's coming to next-gen platforms with the perks of new hardware. It'll support 1080p, 60 FPS, in addition to having all DLC included and some gameplay adjustments.
March 10th - Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita
Hotline Miami has been heralded as one of the best indie titles of the past decade, and now it's getting a sequel.
Hotline Miami 2 will play largely like the first, but there are some new features such as difficulty modes, more playable characters, and character-specific perks. If you are looking for a good, bite-sized challenge, this might just be your solution.
March 11th - Ori and the Blind Forest
Platforms: Xbox One, PC
Microsoft might not have any killer exclusive apps planned for the first half of 2015, but it hopes Ori and the Blind Forest will serve it well.
Ori and the Blind Forest is a platform adventure game that has earned a reputation for having a dazzling art style. In the game you will assume control of a guardian spirit that earns experience, unlocks abilities, and braves thrilling challenges.
March 13th - Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Platform: 3DS
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is a new IP by Nintendo for the 3DS. Think of it as a mixture between the strategy of Final Fantasy Tactics and third-person gameplay of Valkyria Chronicles . Do I have your attention now? Good, because this game looks like it could be an underappreciated hit of 2015.
March 17th - Battlefield: Hardline
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One
It's been a while since FPS gamers have been given something to chew on. Battlefield: Hardline may or may not be the solution. It's essentially Battlefield 4 re-skinned in a cops vs. robbers manner, but that might just be enough to keep you entertained for the next few months.
March 17th - Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One
Final Fantasy Type-0 was an outstanding game on PSP, but sadly many gamers missed out on it. Sometimes AAA games are best left to the consoles. So, Square Enix has spent the last year porting it over to PS4 and Xbox One. It might just be the Final Fantasy game that fans have been craving with action-oriented combat and a story worth following.
March 24th - Bloodborne
Platform: PS4
Since Bloodborne was announced it has remained the most widely anticipated PS4 exclusive, and for good reason. Built by From Software, it's a continuation of the Souls franchise, but with some individual flair. For one, it emphasizes faster-paced gameplay, and also has some unique dungeon elements. As usual, it's also dark and has a grueling difficulty. Bring patience.
March 27th - Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious
Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox 360
The only thing better than standalone DLC is when it's free. Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is not only both, it actually looks great. It'll feature vehicles and events straight from the upcoming Furious 7 , in addition to cutscene interactions with several of its cast members. If you're into cars, there's no reason you want to miss this.
