Steven S. DeKnight Talks Daredevil Season 2 Possibilities

The early reviews for Marvel’s Daredevil seem to indicate that the Netflix original series will be critically acclaimed. Now it’s down to the response of the fans to determine the future of the show.

Back in 2013, Marvel struck an ambition deal that will bring live action series adaptations of Daredevil, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to Netflix before a miniseries of The Defenders brought the heroes together for an eight hour miniseries.

But what if Daredevil or any of the other Marvel series on Netflix become hits? Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has previously teased his desire to continue the adventures of Marvel’s Man Without Fear beyond the initial 13 episode order. DeKnight was recently asked by Collider about Daredevil’s Season 2 prospects and he seemed cautiously optimistic.

“I have absolutely no idea,” said DeKnight. “No matter what show you do, there’s always a possibility of a second season. Nothing’s been talked about, nothing’s been decided. If I had my druthers, would we do a second season? Sure, I think it would warrant it. In regards to The Defenders and how that works, I think it would work pretty much like the movies. You could do season 1 of Daredevil, you do season 2, and depending on where the other shows fall, you might get second season of Jessica Jones… There’s really no way of telling, it’s really a grand experiment.”

All 13 episodes of Daredevil will premiere on Netflix beginning on Friday, April 10. A.K.A. Jessica Jones is expected to premiere later in 2015.
