Ofelia Salazar (Mercedes Mason)
Mercedes Mason was one of the stars of The Finder on Fox. On Fear The Walking Dead, she will portray Ofelia Salazar, the daughter of two immigrants (Daniel and Griselda) who struggles to keep them safe during the slow-moving destruction of everything that they ever knew.
Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades)
Rubén Blades is considered to be a music icon in his native Panama, Latin America, and Spain. He’s also an accomplished actor, songwriter, activist, and politician (!) who once ran for the Presidency of Panama. His most recent role was Jefe, a senior cartel member in director Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.
On Fear The Walking Dead, Blades is playing Daniel Salazar, the husband of Griselda, and father of Ofelia who came to the U.S. years ago for a fresh start. Before the zombie apocalypse, Daniel was a barber.
Griselda Salazar (Patricia Reyes Spíndola)
Patricia Reyes Spíndola is an actress and a director who has worked extensively since 1974 in Mexican cinema and television. Fear The Walking Dead is Spindola’s biggest American role to date.
She will be portraying Griselda Salazar, the mother of Ofelia and Daniel’s wife. Out of all of the main characters, Griselda is the most religious and she believes that the zombie plague was sent to punish mankind for its collective sins.
Fear The Walking Dead will premiere with an extended 90 minute episode this Sunday, August 23 on AMC.
