What Is Going On With Lamar Odom?

UPDATE (Sat. Oct. 17, 12:20 PM CST) – WABC is reporting that Odom has regained consciousness and was able to speak and give a thumbs up to those around him in the hospital.

Reports surfaced Tuesday evening that Lamar Odom was found unconscious inside a Las Vegas brothel, fighting for his life.

Here’s everything else we know for sure.

After spending several nights at the legal brothel since Saturday, the former reality TV and basketball star was discovered face-down by two women before vomiting

The Nye County Sheriff’s Department will hold a press conference at 7 p.m. ET to provide an update on the situation. Sheriff Sharon A. Wehrly said in a statement Tuesday that authorities were called at about 3:15 p.m. to Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, about 70 miles outside of Las Vegas, for a report of an unresponsive man needing an ambulance.

Odom, 35, was stabilized and taken to Desert View Hospital in nearby Pahrump, the statement said. Officials then tried to have him airlifted to Las Vegas, but the 6-foot-10 Odom was too tall for the helicopter that was available, so he was driven by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

However his current status is what’s incredibly hazy.

Some reports say Odom is in a coma and his heart is failing.

E! News is reporting that Odom’s condition is being treated as an overdose.

Hell, Jesse Jackson reportedly left the hospital saying that Odom was responsive and showed signs of improvement.

So what’s going on? No matter how you cut it, it certainly doesn’t look good.

The owner of the ranch said that Odom was taking some sort of “herbal Viagra.” Not a good sign considering the 35-year-old has s history of drug abuse.

You might know him from the reality shows with the Kardashians as he was married to Khloe for six years. He also helped lead the Lakers to NBA championships in 2009 and 2010.

Social media is currently flooding with support for the former first-round pick. Most notably from Cavs players LeBron James…

And J.R. Smith, who even ended his post with a premature ‘R.I.P.’

This situation will be watched very closely as doctors say the next 48 hours are critical.
