Exclusive Preview | Joey Esposito & Sean Von Gorman’s Pawn Shop

Long time CraveOnline readers may recall that Joey Esposito was once the Comics Channel editor for this site. Esposito left Crave several years ago, and he is now focused on writing original comics and graphic novels of his own. This week, Z2 Comics is publishing Pawn Shop, one of Esposito’s earliest graphic novels with artist Sean Von Gorman.

Pawn Shop is a very indie flavored comic that tells the story of four strangers in New York. They are a widower, a nurse, a punk, and a Long Island Railroad employee whose lives are connected through a pawn shop in Manhattan. According to the official description, “New York City is an ecosystem where everybody is connected, if only by the streets they walk on. Pawn Shop explores the big things that separate us and the little moments that inexplicably unite us.”

CraveOnline is proud to present an advance look at Pawn Shop, with Gorman’s unique blend of watercolor and digital coloring as the story begins by focusing on the widower, Harold, as he revisits his old neighborhood and finds himself haunting the life that he once had.

The 100 page Pawn Shop graphic novel collection will be released on Wednesday, October 21 in comic book stores everywhere.
