Halo 5 Could Be Coming to PC Says Series Director

PC gamers miss the Halo series. With Halo: Combat Evolved proving to be a hugely popular game on the platform and Halo 2 enjoying similar success, when Bungie decided to make the series an Xbox-exclusive for Halo 3, many were inevitably upset with the change. Since that game released the series has yet to return to PC, but now series director Frank O’Connor has stated that this might not always be the case, and that the series could return to Windows with Halo 5.

Speaking during a livestream with GamesRadar, O’Connor expressed interest in bringing Halo 5 to the PC, even saying that it wouldn’t be difficult for the team at 343 Industries to do so given that they developed the game on an Intel platform.

Here’s the full quote from O’Connor, which you can hear at around the 1:13:00 mark in the video below:

“You know, Microsoft has made a huge commitment trying sort of… I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms. You see the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear in Xbox and Cortana and stuff like that. There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point… you know, we developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing I announce today on this chat.”

While this isn’t confirmation that Halo 5 PC is on the way, it does appear to suggest that this is something 343 has discussed previously, and his comments that it wouldn’t be difficult to bring the game to the platform will no doubt excite Halo fans who haven’t picked up an Xbox One to play the upcoming game.

With Microsoft looking to further promote Windows 10 and its integration with other Microsoft products such as the Xbox One, Halo 5 would be the perfect game to showcase the operating system’s power across different hardware. Hopefully O’Connor isn’t sending the rumor mill into overdrive for nothing, here.
