Tickets for JK Rowling and Jack Thorne’s upcoming West End play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are already on sale for those who have registered for priority booking, with them officially going on general sale on October 30th. However, the scramble to buy these tickets will inevitably leave many empty-handed, and as such Ticketmaster’s re-sale company Get Me In! has significantly raised the prices of these tickets for those who missed out on their first opportunity.
Unfortunately for those who are concerned that they’ll be unable to get tickets for the play (which is extremely likely given the excitement surrounding the show), the asking price for these tickets has increased dramatically, with them originally being priced between £10 – £130 to book both Part One and Part Two of the play, whereas Get Me In! is charging between a staggering £385 – £1,320, capitalising upon the misfortune of those who failed to book their seats today.
12 tickets are currently on sale on the site, with seats ranging between the Upper Circle to the far pricier Dress Circle. It’s more than likely that someone with an unreasonable amount of spare cash will snap these up, so it’s more-or-less fruitless to suggest that we shouldn’t encourage this kind of scalping.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will see JK Rowling returning to the Harry Potter character, with him now being “an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic,” along with “a husband and father of three school-age children.” According to the plot synopsis, it will also see his son, Albus, “struggling with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.”
The play will take place at the Palace Theatre in London, with previews set to take place starting June 7th before it opens to the general public in August 2016.
