There’s been plenty of fascination surrounding the video for Adele‘s Hello from the use of a flip-phone to the yellow-tinged colouring but Sir David Attenborough has cleared it all up for us narrating the video’s intro for BBC Radio 1 program The Hunt.
“Won’t Adele be cross with me,” he asked when he was first given the task but the radio host assured him that Adele would love it “more than anything in the world.” And we think he’s probably right.
“Battling against strong winds and the weight of expectation, she’s convinced that now is the time to strike. She like all popstars needs to hunt to survive,” Attenborough says in that iconic voice as Adele wanders towards the house, flip-phone in hand.
“The signal is poor and she hasn’t upgraded her handset since 1999,” he further explains.
As Adele gets ready to sing, Attenborough draws the viewer right in telling us that “We are about to witness one of the great phenomenon of the natural world.” Given that in two weeks since Hello was released the video has been viewed over 200 million times he couldn’t be more right.
“The lesser spotted Adele is about to be everywhere again,” he says excitedly as she opens her mouth to sing, “hello, it’s me.” Rather brilliantly, Attenborough follows her “hello” with a rapturous “hello!”
Goose-bump worthy stuff.
