Jose Mourinho Has Officially Been Sacked by Chelsea

Chelsea have officially sacked Jose Mourinho as manager of the club following a disastrous start to the Premier League season.

The 52-year-old’s second reign at the club has come to an end, with it having been confirmed by the club that they are now searching for another manager as a replacement.

While Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich stated back in October that he was confident Mourinho could turn things around for the club, a continued run of poor form has seen Chelsea teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, a far cry from their Premier League victory last season.

Now, following a 2-1 defeat to unlikely league leaders Leicester, it seems that Chelsea have decided to seek a new manager to shake up the club, with Juande Ramos having been already rumoured to become the squad’s caretaker manager before they find a full-time replacement.

While Mourinho’s season at Chelsea has been poor, leading to frequent speculation that his players were revolting against their manager, his former Premier League rival Sir Alex Ferguson spoke out in defence of Mourinho, stating that it would be “foolish” of Chelsea’s owners to give up on him at this point.

Even though there had been murmurs that Chelsea would wait until the January transfer window to see if Mourinho could turn it around, they have instead decided to act swiftly, with Mourinho now no longer set to coach Chelsea in their upcoming game against Sunderland.

According to the BBC, Mourinho will be paid a full season’s wages by the club.
