Let’s celebrate the new year by celebrating a really old year! This week, The B-Movies Podcast takes the WABAC Machine so that Bibbs and Witney can highlight the best movies of 1986. It’s a year when classic dramas and iconic cult movies competed for audiences across the globe. Which films still stand out, and which hit movies no longer make the grade? This is the episode where you find out.
Also this week, William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold review the first new releases of 2016: The Forest, Anger of the Dead and the long-awaited restoration of Orson Welles’s innovative Shakespearean tragedy Chimes at Midnight, which takes scenes from several different plays to tell the complete story of The Bard’s most famous supporting character, the charming reprobate Falstaff. Witney also catches up with several of the prominent films from 2015 that he couldn’t get to before our Best of 2015 episode, including Joy, Room and Mustang.
