Leicester have apparently submitted an £8 million bid for Chelsea striker Loic Remy, as the club look to bolster their attacking options as they continue leading the Premier League.

With Chelsea reportedly having almost secured the transfer of Alexander Pato, it is believed that Remy will not be seeing much first-team action in the near future, and Leicester have therefore allegedly moved in to secure the talents of the French international.

According to l’Equipe (via 90min), Leicester have enthusiastically pursued the 29-year-old and have now extended an offer to Chelsea, though the striker is reportedly more interested by a potential move to Newcastle, where he believes he’ll receive more game time as Leicester are likely to favour their star striker Jamie Vardy. However, with Vardy experiencing a dip in goal-scoring form as of late, Leicester are keen to strengthen their attack by introducing another option up front, with the club keen to introduce Remy to this role.

Remy had also allegedly been pursued by Crystal Palace, though that club’s recent acquisition of Emmanuel Adebayor is likely set to alter their plans in this regard.

While Leicester nor Chelsea have confirmed this potential signing, Remy is looking to receive more match time ahead of the French national squad’s participation in the Euro 2016 tournament, in order for him to showcase talents as concerns grow regarding whether or not he will be called up to represent his country for the team. While Newcastle may offer him a more secure first-team role, Remy will also have to consider being a part of this season’s greatest success story, with Leicester fighting their way back to the top of the Premier League with a three-point lead over Arsenal.

With Vardy having been more inconsistent since the club’s spectacular early run of form, scoring his first goal since December in Leicester’s 3-0 victory against Stoke, Remy may prove to be very useful for the underdogs as they look to broaden their attacking options.
