If you had asked us yesterday, we’d have said it was only a matter of time before someone made a movie about Donald Trump. But it turns out we don’t have to wait: Johnny Depp has teamed up with Funny or Die to star in The Art of the Deal, a 50-minute parody film supposedly written, directed and starring Trump himself.
But seriously, Johnny Depp plays Donald Trump in this movie. His penchant for wigs and makeup is on full display here, in a film that was – in the context of the comedy short – supposed to have aired as a Made-for-TV movie in the early 1990s, but is only just seeing the light of day now, after filmmaker Ron Howard wrestled an old lady for a VHS copy of it at a garage sale.

The Art of the Deal takes place in Donald Trump’s office, where the mogul tells his life story to a straw man – or rather, a “straw child” – and makes himself sound like a hero. The joke is that the film is enormously self-congratulatory and yet also not very good, which was the exact same premise as the hilarious British comedy series Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace (which you should totally see if you haven’t already).
You can watch the trailer for The Art of the Deal below, or head on over to Funny or Die to watch the entire film, which is full of celebrity cameos like Patton Oswalt, Alfred Molina and Alf.
