The BBC has unveiled the full hosting line-up for the upcoming new series of Top Gear, with seven presenters being signed up to replace the previous hosting trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
The previously announced Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc will be joined by ex-Formula 1 boss Eddie Jordan and German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, with YouTuber Chris Harris and journalist Rory Reid – who won the job through public auditions staged last year – also set to join.
Chris Evans made the announcement during his BBC Radio 2 show, saying: “We really do have a bit of something for everyone.”
He continued: “A fellow lifelong petrolhead from the other side of the pond in Matt; a fearless speed-demon in the irrepressible and effervescent Sabine; the encyclopedic, funny and wonderfully colourful character that is EJ; Chris, one of the world’s top no-nonsense car reviewers; and Rory, who simply blew me away in his audition and fully deserves his place on the team.”
Chris Harris in particular could be set to introduce a whole new online audience to Top Gear, with him having amassed over 300,000 subscribers on YouTube and pulling in millions of views. Check out one his most popular videos – a head-to-head between a LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and McLaren P1 – below:
The masked racer The Stig is also set to return to his duties on the show. The new series of Top Gear will air in May.
