“In the not too distant future, somewhere in time and space,” the Mystery Science Theater 3000 gang is getting back together for one night only!
According to the AVClub, the original host of MST3K, Joel Hodgson and the host of the upcoming reboot, Jonah Ray will join Rifftrax’s “RiffTrax Live: MST3K Reunion Show” on June 28 alongside former MST3K cast members Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, Mary Jo Pehl, and Bridget Nelson. Rifftrax itself was formed by ex-MST3K cast members, including the second host, Mike Neslon, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett.
“I couldn’t be more excited to get the whole MST3K principal cast together again after all this time,” said Nelson in a statement. “I just wish I told them in advance that in addition to riffing we’d be doing a Cirque du Soleil-style second act.”

And which film could possibly be worthy of these movie-riffing veterans? Well, no film, really! Instead, the group will mock educational shorts like “A Case Of Spring Fever” and “What To Do On a Date,” before performing a “SUPER RIFF-A-PALOOZA.” No one is quite sure what that means, but it sounds like fun!
The “RiffTrax Live: MST3K Reunion Show” is taking place on June 28th in Minneapolis, but it will also be streamed into theaters across the country courtesy of Fathom Events. Rifftrax is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to fund its upcoming live events, which will help cover the cost of this reunion. You can visit the Kickstarter campaign and contribute by clicking on this link and making a pledge before it closes on Friday, April 8.
