After a production hiatus and rumors of creative differences on the set, it was widely rumored that HBO’s Westworld series wasn’t going to premiere this year. But now, HBO has put those rumors to rest with an official announcement.
Westworld‘s ten episode first season will now premiere in October alongside three new shows from HBO: Divorce, Insecure and High Maintenance. Westworld is a reboot of the classic 1973 film by Michael Crichton that has one of the most impressive casts in recent memory. That includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and Tessa Thompson. The series will reportedly be set in the near future as the dawn of artificial consciousness collides with the future of sin.

As for the other series, Divorce marks the return of Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, as she plays “a woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage, and finds that making a clean break and a fresh start is harder than she thought.” Insecure features Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Lisa Joyce in show that reportedly “looks at the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.”
High Maintenance appears to be somewhat reminiscent of Showtime’s Weeds. The series stars Ben Sinclair as “a friendly pot dealer whose clients include an eccentric group of characters, revealing the dynamics of their lives. From the unexpected and offbeat to the predictable and mundane, the series provides a glimpse into the daily routines of the customers and how they light things up.”
