In what has to be one of the most bizarre news stories of the young year, a 42-year-old woman named Viktoria Nasyrova decided to make a cheesecake for a 35-year-old lady who looked just like her, fill it with Phenazapam, which is a type of tranquilizer that was made in the Soviet Union in the ’70s, then bring it to her in hopes of killing her off and taking her place. Holy hell.
The victim, Olga Tsvyk, of course ate the cheesecake because cheesecake is awesome, but unfortunately she immediately felt sick and passed out. It gets more bizarre as the victim woke up dressed in lingerie with pills scattered around her — obviously to make it looked like Tsvyk tried to off herself.
This theory is further supported by the victim’s discovery, upon returning home from the hospital, that her passport, employment authorization card, jewelry, and cash had all gone missing. Detectives say that both women have the same dark hair, the same skin complexion, and both speak Russian. Which is not much to go on.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement on Wednesday, “This is a bizarre and twisted crime that could have resulted in the death of a Queens woman, whose only fault was the she shared similar features with the defendant. Offering a gift of cheesecake, the defendant is alleged to have laced the dessert with a Russian drug and presented it to the unsuspecting victim.”
Nasyrova was eventually arrested after she was tracked down once police found out the dessert was tainted. She is now accused of attempted murder, burglary, assault, reckless endangerment and more, and faces up to 25 years in prison.
This isn’t Nasyrova’s first run-in with the law, as she once fled Russia after being accused of murdering a 54-year-old woman. So let’s just say that Nasyrova is a tad insane. She also hates cheesecake.
