You don’t see many people making a pitstop in East St. Louis on their trip from Oklahoma to Texas these days.

According to Fox 2 Now, a driver for a private security company decided to take that route, and he wound up getting fired for it. Driving a few hundred miles out of the way probably had something to do with it, but it was the fact that one of the prisoners he was transporting escaped after he checked into a casino that probably really did him in.

Authorities said Lamont Henderson was supposed to be transporting two prisoners from Oklahoma to Texas, but Henderson only had eyes for the Casino Queen hotel in East St. Louis instead of the Lone Star State. Both Henderson and the two inmates checked into the hotel around 10 p.m. Sunday night, but only one inmate was left in the room when Henderson woke up less than an hour later.

The inmate on the run is 33-year-old Brian Jordan, who was a bad boy and violated his parole for possession of meth.

While Henderson was fired over his actions, the bad news didn’t end there for him, as the tweaker also made off with $5,200 in cash that used to belong to Henderson. And to think, none of that would have happened if he just would have done his damn job.
