When it’s time to quit a job, there are two ways to do so: calm, and with class or bold and balls-to-the-walls. One Walmart worker in Louisiana chose the latter, and went viral for it.
Employee Beth McGrath was fed up and decided to quit her job. So she made an announcement. Literally. On the P.A. system.
“Attention Walmart shoppers and associates, my name is Beth from electronics,” she said. “I’ve been working at Walmart for almost five years and I can say that everyone here is overworked and underpaid. The attendance policy is bullshit. We’re treated from [sic] management and customers poorly every day. Whenever we have a problem with it, we’re told that we’re replaceable.”
“I’m tired of the constant gaslighting,” McGrath continued. “This company treats their elderly associates like shit. To Jarred, our store manager, you’re a pervert. Greta and Kathy, shame on you for treating our associates the way you do. I hope you don’t speak to your families the way you speak to us.”
She concluded with a pair of well-timed F-bombs. “Fuck management and fuck this job,” she said. “I quit.”
She posted the video to her Facebook account, where it’s racked up 224,000 views. McGrath said she never intended for the video to go viral, and she didn’t do it for clout, but to be a voice for herself and fellow employees.
We don’t know where McGrath goes from here, but we wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up in politics.
