Last spring, NBC ordered a “Wonder Woman” pilot by David E. Kelley with Adrianne Palicki in the title role. And while that show was never picked up to series, Kelley clearly hasn’t gotten the iconic superheroine out of his mind.
In an upcoming episode of Kelley’s current series, “Harry’s Law,” former “Smallville” star Erica Durance will appear as Wonder Woman… or at least someone who seems to believe that she’s the Amazon princess/superheroine.
TVLine has posted the first photos of Durance in costume as Wonder Woman; which appears to be the first outfit worn in the “Wonder Woman” pilot by Palicki.
“It was a lot of fun,” Durance told TVLine. “I think any woman would be lying if she didn’t have a moment’s hesitation — you know, you’re jumping into some pretty tight clothes. But it’s so much more than that. It’s such an iconic character.”
Durance added “I will say this: There’s a whole difference to being ready to wear Underoos and being ready to wear a pair of pants that are slim-fitting. I am grateful that I am wearing the pants. And I like the new costume.”
The real name of Durance’s character is reportedly Annie Bilson; a psychologically damaged young woman who takes on Wonder Woman’s identity as she engages in some vigilante activities that require her to get legal help from the lawyers on “Harry’s Law.”
Among genre fans, Durance is best known for playing Lois Lane for six seasons on “Smallville.” This isn’t even Durance’s first brush with Wonder Woman. During the ninth season episode, “Warrior,” Durance wore a costume that deliberately invoked the Wonder Woman costume.
Since “Smallville” wrapped up its ten season run, Durance has made a guest appearance on “Charlie’s Angels” and landed the lead role of a Canadian medical drama, “Saving Hope.”
Durance’s appearance on “Harry’s Law” will air on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
