On Tuesday, February 07, ABC invites viewers to follow them up “The River,” a new horror series from “Paranormal Activity” director Oren Peli and Michael R. Perry.
The premise for “The River” centers upon the disappearance of TV host and explorer, Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood), who seemingly vanishes while on an expedition to the uncharted territories of the Amazon. Six months later, Cole’s estranged wife, Tess (Leslie Hope) and his son, Lincoln (Joe Anderson) convince his former producer, Clark (Paul Blackthorne) to fund their own expedition to find Cole in exchange for letting cameramen film the attempt.
Adding intrigue to the mystery, Cole’s emergency beacon has resumed its transmission six months after going dead, raising the hope that Cole may be recovered alive.
However, in this exclusive full length trailer from ABC, we get a glimpse of Cole as he is assailed by… something and drawn into the very Earth itself. We also see that Tess and Lincoln will soon have problems of their own. Clearly, there’s something strange happening in the Amazon. But the biggest question is who will survive to tell the tale?
