Last week, screenwriter and executive producer Bryan Fuller took to twitter to deny reports that his reboot of “The Munsters” — “Mockingbird Lane” — would not be going forward at NBC. Now, the potential fate of the project has been revealed.
NBC will broadcast “Mockingbird Lane” as a standalone Halloween special on Friday, October 26 at 8pm in front of the network’s genre hit, “Grimm.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fuller and NBC had disagreements about the direction of the “Mockingbird Lane” pilot; which was helmed by Bryan Singer (X-Men).
Even though Fuller is currently overseeing the upcoming “Hannibal” series for NBC, there is still a chance that “Mockingbird Lane” could go forward as a series. But it would take a significant ratings performance on one of the most challenging nights of TV programming. “Grimm” managed to draw a sizable audience last year, so “Mockingbird Lane” would probably have to at least match that performance in order to continue.
In “Mockingbird Lane,” Jerry O’Connell stars as Herman Munster, with Portia de Rossi as Herman’s wife, Lily; Mason Cook as Eddie; Charity Wakefield as their “normal” cousin, Marilyn and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.
