Last summer, “True Blood” creator Alan Ball left his HBO series to focus on new projects, including “Banshee;” which debuts tonight on Cinemax.
Created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, “Banshee” follows Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) a skilled criminal operative who is hiding from mobsters led by the fearsome Mr. Rabbit (Ben Cross) while posing as the Sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania… a small town with big secrets.
While the “Banshee” TV series takes place in the present, the bad blood between Lucas and Mr. Rabbit goes all the way back to 1997. Cinemax and IDW have released a new prequel comic called “Banshee: Origins” which explores the backstory and establishes how Lucas’ working relationship with the mob went bad. And to promote the series, “Banshee: Origins” is available to read online for free.
Tropper and Schickler crafted the story with artist Mike Henderson and it’s available to read online for free. And here are some early pages in the comic as Lucas tries to pull off an ambitious armored car robbery.
